As we start the new calendar year and welcome the energy of the spring semester, I’m excited to share the remarkable accomplishments, innovations, and milestones from across UF MAE. Our department continues to thrive with the creativity, dedication, and collaboration of our faculty, staff, and students.
Completing our hiring cycle from last year, we’re thrilled to fully welcome six exceptional new faculty members who bring fresh expertise and perspectives. Their arrival strengthens our ability to tackle complex challenges in mechanical and aerospace engineering while providing our students with world-class opportunities to learn, innovate, and grow.
MAE research continues to make great strides, from Dr. Bala’s lead in advancing combustion science and sustainable energy solutions to Dr. Kidambi’s breakthroughs in battery technologies and biosensor development. Their work, alongside Dr. Dunn’s 2025 PECASE award and Dr. Musgrave’s recognition as an Air Force Young Investigator highlights the excellence and influence of our research portfolio.
MAE students’ achievements are also inspirational. Some of our students represented the department at UF’s HiPerGator supercomputer dedication. MAE students spearheaded the design and refurbishment of the clock tower in front of Weil Hall. Our Ph.D. students are performing cutting-edge research; their talent and dedication are truly shaping the future.
As we move forward into another new and exciting year, I’m positive that MAE will continue to be a vibrant core of learning and support with new innovations and accomplishments that will continue to elevate our department and benefit the world.
Thank you for your support and for being part of this exciting journey.
