Eunice Chung Carter, an academic advisor with MAE Undergraduate Student Services, was recognized with a Superior Accomplishment Award for going above and beyond in demonstrating her commitment to students. When her team faced staffing challenges, Carter carved out time to schedule 175 course sections for the summer and fall terms while balancing her primary responsibilities. This is a tremendous task, normally reserved for an Academic Assistant. MAE is one of the largest departments at the university, and scheduling requires time and careful attention to detail. By taking that on, Carter secured classrooms and provided accurate, relevant course information for students while maintaining productivity within her own role. She also set the path for the incoming Academic Assistant, allowing them to transition smoothly into the role and pick up where she left off.
Moreover, Carter has stayed committed to students throughout those challenging times by creating opportunities. She enhanced the Transfer Preview process by creating a welcome kit for new students. Carter also took point on planning and implementing a series of career preparation workshops for students alongside Dr. Matthew J. Traum. These events enable students to become more job-ready as they explore resume writing, interviewing practice, and other crucial skills for their post-academic careers. This initiative culminated with a widely successful MAE career event in collaboration with the Career Connections Center. Her dedication was clear to students, several of whom wrote specifically to thank Carter for going above and beyond to support them on their academic journeys.
Carter’s recognition by the Superior Accomplishment Award reflects her excellence and resilience, which are integral to the department’s success and prosperity.
