University of Florida Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Associate Professor Amor Menezes has been appointed to the Standing Committee on Advances and National Security Implications of Transdisciplinary Biotechnology at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM).
The committee brings together experts from academia, industry and government to examine emerging biotechnologies and their potential to support U.S. national security. Members evaluate new innovations, identify challenges to real-world implementation and help strengthen collaboration between the biotechnology and national security communities.
Menezes, whose research focuses on engineering biology for medical and space applications, was selected for his expertise in biotechnology and interdisciplinary engineering and will contribute to national discussions on the future of emerging biotechnologies.
