Dr. Carol Weber is an accomplished and mission-focused technology leader that transforms business by spearheading the development of industry-changing innovations. She has built a solid reputation as a person who can achieve powerful results in the face of high-stakes challenges because of her track record of finding – or creating – solutions to whatever obstacles she comes across. Early in her career, as a Senior Mechanical Engineer working at Kennedy Space Center, Carol had the opportunity to lead a technical team that created a first-of-its kind respirator for use by firefighters on launch pad sites in response to the Shuttle Challenger tragedy. The team was faced with a nearly impossible task of finding a way to provide more air to firefighters without increasing the size of their tanks. Leading the team in solving this problem with cryogenic air was a technical mastery and tremendous achievement that stands today as a major highlight of her career.
In the past 2 decades, Carol has championed dozens of projects and programs ranging in size up to hundreds of millions of dollars and with teams over 50 associates. This breadth of experience leading diverse and globally dispersed teams has informed and shaped her leadership style: she is a driver of results, but a people leader who expresses empathy and is focused on empowerment.
Complementing Carol’s remarkable career, she holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Operations Research & Energy Economics from the Colorado School of Mines, as well as a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Central Florida and Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florida. She is a registered Professional Engineer in Colorado and Florida and was named an Outstanding Woman in Business by Denver Business Journal in 2015.
