BIOMECHANICS, BIO-IMAGING, AND NANOTECHNOLOGY

  • Title of project: BIOMECHANICS, BIO-IMAGING, AND NANOTECHNOLOGY
  • Funding agency (Optional):
  • Description: We have several PhD openings (fully funded) in the general areas of Biomechanics, Optogenetics, Electrophysiology, in vivo/vitro Bio-imaging, Nanotechnology, and Active Soft Matter. We are an interdisciplinary research group working at the interface of mechanical engineering, physics, chemistry, and biology. We aim to train the next generation of leaders in mechanical engineering, bioengineering, and biophysics. We combine quantitative fluorescent imaging, nanofabrication, electrophysiology, computational modeling, and genome editing tools to tackle important problems in human diseases, including but not limited to cancer, cardiovascular malfunction, tissue regeneration, and brain disorders. We apply our discoveries to developing of innovative technologies and medicines to improve human health.
  • Restrictions/Constraints: None
  • Knowledge and skills needed: Prior hands-on experience with design and construction of optical microscopes, laser, electrophysiology, BioMEMS/NEMS, LabView, or MATLAB, are preferred.
  • How to apply: Please email CV (summarizing previous research/work experience, publication record, skills, GPA, GRE, and relevant career accomplishments, etc) and contact info of 2-3 recommendation letter writers to Dr. Tang with the subject “PhD or Post-doc candidate application”.
