Though physics lays the foundation, becoming an engineer takes far more than understanding F = ma.
Here at MAE, faculty and staff are committed to building a rich curriculum for students. Master Lecturer and Instructional professor Matthew Traum, Ph.D. and academic undergraduate advisor, Eunice Chung Carter, were recognized by the UF Division of Student Life for going above and beyond, securing collaborations with industry partners and other departments at UF to expand students’ horizons.
Presented by the Division of Student Life (DSL), the Student Life Awards honors staff, faculty, and teams whose work epitomize the principles of the Student Life committee. For the whole university, just nine individuals are recognized each year.
“Receiving DSL’s Commitment to Collaboration Award is a clear sign to the value of this work,” Traum said. “It encourages me to continue identifying new ways to connect our students with internships, full-time employment, and related professional-development opportunities.”
Through partnership with the Career Connections Center (C3), Traum and Carter hope to integrate industry connections and career development into the engineering curriculum, encouraging students to blossom as professionals in preparation for internships and post-graduate employment.
