Biography

Dr. Stubbs earned a Bachelors (2019), Masters (2021), and a Ph.D. (2025) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florida, with an emphasis on nonlinear control systems, human–robot interaction, and the integration of functional electrical stimulation (FES) into rehabilitation hardware. Her primary area of research is focused on the advancement of robotic‑assisted rehabilitation by developing robust, remotely‑operated motorized functional electrical stimulation (FES) enabled cycling systems using advanced nonlinear control architectures guaranteeing safe teleoperation under actuator uncertainties.

Prior to joining the MAE Department faculty, Dr. Stubbs was an Instructional Assistant Professor with the Department of Engineering Education for 3 years. In this role, she was the lead instructor for COP2271: Computer Programming for Engineers with MATLAB. Dr. Stubbs also acted as a faculty coach for several interdisciplinary design teams through the Integrated Process & Product Design (IPPD) program.
