Biography
Dr. Yu Wang is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Florida (UF) and the Group Lead of Autonomous and Connected Vehicles of the UF Transportation Institute. He was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Duke University. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and M.S. in Statistics and Mathematics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). Dr. Wang’s research explores AI/ML–driven methods for autonomous control and decision-making in complex environments that require both logical reasoning and a deep understanding of physical geometry. His work aims to integrate AI/ML, mathematical control theory, and formal methods to develop reliable, human-level intelligent systems capable of operating safely in open, uncertain, and contested real-world settings.
