Biography

Carlos Fernandez serves as a Technology Development Supervisor at the ExxonMobil Upstream Research Company in Houston, Texas. He started his career with ExxonMobil in 2005 after completion of his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Mechanical and Aerospace Department at the University of Florida. His initial roles had him supporting well completions and wellwork operations in Texas and California. He has since progressed through a variety of technical and commercial roles including: well performance analysis, reservoir simulation research, joint venture management and business transformation. Carlos led the transition of technical wells and reservoir engineering workflows to Technology Centers in India and Malaysia which have grown to support global Upstream operations. Carlos also managed ExxonMobil’s joint venture relations with California based Aera Energy LLC supporting development and production activities and strategies across multiple assets. More recently, he played an integral role supporting the implementation of ExxonMobil’s streamline upstream organization working with global asset leaders to ensure a successful organizational design transition. Currently, Carlos manages a research team focusing on improving global well technologies to deepwater, conventional and liquefied natural gas (LNG) assets. Carlos is also the team captain of the ExxonMobil University of Florida Engineering Recruiting Team and is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the state of Texas.
