Financial Aid
Applying for financial aid at UF, including loans, begins with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Financial aid is available to qualified graduate students through the Office for Student Financial Aid and Scholarships (SFA).
Doctor of Philosophy
To ensure that our students can focus on academic growth and research, we offer comprehensive funding packages. These packages cover tuition, health care, and include an annual stipend. For the 2024-2025 academic year, the minimum annual stipend is $32,000 USD. Note that the minimum stipend is subject to annual adjustments.
Externally Funded Applicants
Any external funding must meet or exceed the Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) stipend plus the maximum value of the tuition waiver and healthcare benefits. Students who have applied for or expect to receive funding from external organizations—such as their employer, DOD SMART, NSF, SACM, or other government organizations—should include this information in their Statement of Purpose.

Comprehensive funding packages are extremely rare at the master’s level.
