    Activities

Solar Gators seeks to design, build, and race a full-sized solar powered car to provide an avenue for students to get innovative hands-on experience in the rapidly expanding world of renewable energy. Solar Gators values sustainability and the pursuit of technology towards that end. Since the team’s reestablishment in 2016, two solar powered cars have been built with a third currently in progress. Over the 2020-2021 school year, we will aspire to complete this vehicle and race it in the the Formula Sun Grand Prix, a track based race that will take place over Summer.

Solar Gators welcomes anyone, no matter their level of experience. New member on-boarding procedures cover various engineering disciplines and will prepare members for the designs and manufacturing seen on our team. New students will gain knowledge that will prepare them for classes later in their curriculum and allow them to apply that knowledge with hands on experience. Joining Solar Gators will provide any student with the opportunity to develop technical skills and further sustainability efforts in our community.
