Once per year, select applicants to the UF Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering doctoral program receive an exclusive invite to join us for a fully funded campus visit. Spring Visit provides the opportunity for prospective students to spend an extended amount of time with MAE students, faculty, and staff.
All costs are paid by UF including travel, lodging, and meals
What Will I Do?
- Learn about the MAE PhD program and decide if it’s the right fit for you
- Meet current PhD students and hear about their experiences
- Explore faculty research labs and other department spaces
- Meet one-on-one with faculty to discuss their research and potential opportunities to join their research group
- Learn about available funding options for PhD students
- Have fun and get to know the Gator Nation!
How do I Apply?
Spring Visit is an exclusive event for highly competitive PhD applicants who have been offered admission for the upcoming fall term. To be considered, submit your PhD program application by the priority deadline—no additional application or materials are needed.
Eligible participants include U.S. domestic students and international students living in the U.S.
When is Spring Visit?
Typically, Spring Visit is held during the third week of February for a given year.

How Should I Prepare?
- Business casual with comfortable shoes; check the weather and bring rain gear, just in case.
- Join our public discord server to ask questions
- Identify 4-5 faculty members whose research aligns with your interests. Research their work, and come prepared with 3-4 meaningful questions for each.
Are Costs Included?
Yes, all costs are paid by UF, including flights or mileage reimbursement, hotels, local airport shuttles, meals, etc. We’re excited to welcome you and help you take the next step in your academic journey!
